No More Braces!

Savannah got  her braces off yesterday.  She is so excited!  She craved gummy worms, sour patch kids, Swedish Fish, Frito's, Cheetos. and nachos.  We went out to eat Mexican food last night, where she ate chips and queso while she waited for her order of nachos.  I think she has now eaten everything on her list but the Cheetos.  I guess I will have to work on that one.  Isn't that a beautiful smile?

Smoke Detectors

I know that we are supposed to change the batteries in the smoke detectors every time we change the clock for Day Light Savings.  We never do that.  Who has time to change the batteries twice a year when you have a smoke detector in every room of the house, while you are adjusting to the wonderful new time change you just received?  Besides that is a lot of money wasted on new batteries that you don't really need yet, especially when the smoke detector beeps to let you know that the batteries are dying.  That brings me to the point of my entry today.  Why is it that the smoke detector only beeps in the middle of the night to let you know that the batteries are dying?  Is that the only time it can give you this info?  Why not in the day time or the evening.  At least sometime when you don't have to crawl out of bed, realize you don't have the right size batteries, and then either endure the annoying beep all night or go to either Kroger or Walmart (don't get me started on that) because they are the only stores open at 3 am.  To the techno people out there, can you get with the people that make the smoke detectors beep to let you know the batteries are dying and try to figure out a way to make them beep some other time but the middle of the night?  Just wondering?

18

Hannah turned 18 on Monday.  She wasn't happy about going to school early to fill out the bubble answer sheet for her AP tests, but it turned out to be a good day for her.  She is getting ready for college and her birthday list reflected that.

She got cards with money.

The Hunger Games.  One of the best books out there! And a gift card to Borders. Now she is ready for the sequel in September.

The Wonder Hangers.  I know you have seen these advertised.  She tried them out in her closet and was amazed.  It is a definite must for her college dorm closet.  She also got towels and wash cloths. (not pictured)

Make a wish Hannah!

Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake.  Yum!!  We had plain cheesecake with chocolate and strawberry topping.  We also had chocolate frozen yogurt and and cookies n cream ice cream.

After the presents and cheesecake, we all went upstairs to watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  (Hannah's request)

Hannah said it feels weird to know that she can order things from TV without asking her parents permission. (ha ha ha)  She can also vote.  She is sad there are no elections to vote in this year. She can now also legally drive all of the kids in her car!

Happy Birthday Hannah!!!

Spring Break

The warm up has begun with no rain!  We will have at least 2 nice warm days!  We have been enjoying those cold spring break days by being lazy.  I am not kidding.  I think Zachary and Savannah stayed in their pj's all day on Monday.  I did make them brush their teeth.

Last night we had a family from our ward over and we watched Bedtime Stories. It was a good movie.  The kids really enjoyed it.

I am not quite sure how we will fill our nice warm days, but I am enjoying the relaxed schedule and I am trying to not think about this being the last spring break that all of my kids will have at the same time.  Maybe watching Twilight again is is our future.  We always get a good laugh with that one.  Except for Zachary who cringes and retreats to his room to play xbox.

Cruel Joke

Today is the start of spring break for us.  We have been impatiently waiting for this event to occur.  We have had nice beautiful weather lately.  Sunny, in the 70's.  The kind of day that the kids don't want to spend in a classroom.  Now is the chance to enjoy the warm weather and it is hiding from us.  You know the cold weather out west?  It collided with the warm weather here, giving us storms last night.  What has followed is not fun.  Our high today is 41.  Seriously?  At least it looks like the warm weather is coming back on Wednesday, with rain of course.  I guess we will take it.  It is better than the cold. A tropical island sounds nice right now.

Countdowns

We are living in the land of countdowns. We are counting down the days until spring break. It is next week. Did I say we are all looking forward to it and really can't wait?

We are counting down the days for Zachary's first baseball game of the season. It is Saturday. Go Yankees!

Hannah's 18th (can you believe it?) birthday on the 20th.

Savannah is getting her braces off. Yeah! She has an appointment for April 27th to get all the braces but the bottom front 6 brackets off and get fitted for a retainer. Then she goes back on May 5th to get the remaining brackets off and get the retainer. I for one am excited to not be paying for braces for the first time in, well a very long time. I am also excited that we can watch a movie now and everyone can eat the popcorn. No more buying special, different food!

Hannah is excited to pick a bed(to finally get signed up for housing) on April 23. It seems disorganized and crazy, but I am sure everything will work out for her.

Zachary is looking forward to his 10th birthday on May 20th. He wants to take doughnuts for his class.

The last day of school is May 21st. We can't get there fast enough.

And the finally graduation on the 23rd. (sad/happy/sad/happy) I don't really know how I feel about that, but Hannah can't wait. Can I just stop time now? I don't think I am ready for her to leave. I know that is life though.
