Off to BYU

Hannah packed up her stuff last week to head out to BYU.

She is trying to decide what to pack.

Notice the girls packing Hannah's things together and Zachary eating a cookie.

Loading the car
The last time the kids are together until Thanksgiving. We are dropping the kids off and Mom's and Dad's before we leave.

Dropping her off for a tearful goodbye. Yes more tears.

Hannah and the Y on the mountain. It is hard to see. It is on the left.

Adventures in Date Night with a Walmart Twist

Gotcha wondering, huh?

Kyle had a youth activity last Saturday. He had to buy drinks and snacks on Friday night before the activity. He decided it would be fun to go together. We would get the snacks, drop them off, and then go out to dinner. Nothing big and grand, but it was time together. Sounded great to me. Well, off we went. To Walmart. Now most of you know, but for those that don't, I HATE Walmart. I can never find what I need. The isles are so cluttered that once you head down one you have to hope you can turn around, because there is no way that the cart is going to be able to fit all the way down the isle. Their customer service is horrible. They have their own way of doing things and it makes no since to me. Etc. etc. etc. Now to be fair, Kyle told me where we would be going to shop for the snacks ahead of time. He knows me well. I have to brace myself for the event. He says,"You get in a Walmart mood." Not a pretty thing.

We sent Savannah off to her babysitting appointment and left Hannah and Zachary to spend some quality time together before she leaves for school and off we went.

I was doing okay. It was a night out right? We got to Walmart. Still doing good. I take a deep breath and enter the store. Here goes nothing. Walmart is one busy place on Friday night. Seriously? We are shopping for the snacks. Why are the napkins not in the same isle with the other paper products like plates, cups, paper towels? Anyway. I was staying calm. We saw some friends, visited for a bit and continued looking of the sunblock that the wonderful Walmart people said would be somewhere it wasn't.

We gave up on the sunblock and decided to leave. Don't want to push me into my Walmart mood. I was doing well. We got the the check out area. Now I will say that most ever checkout isle was open otherwise I would have lost it then. However, everyone in the store must have been checking out at the same time we were. I think there was a beer sale. That was a popular isle. We stand in line for 20 minutes, smelling the wonderful Walmart aroma. (I think the stores stink) We found the sunblock in the check out isle and we loaded it and our food on the counter. Kyle hands the girl a tax exempt form, because we are buying for the church. She won't take it. For future reference for anyone that has to do this, you have to visit the Customer Service desk to get a special card to use at check out. This is my favorite part.... She says, "you see Walmart has it's own way of doing this. We have our own system." Kyle looking at me says," I'm not standing in this line again. We will just pay the tax." I breathe a sigh of relief. I can feel my blood boiling and I am ready to get out of here and eat.

We load our carts back with the purchased snacks and drinks and head out to his truck. We parked in the second spot in the parking lot a couple of rows over. There is a patch of grass with a light post in front of the truck. We have someone waiting for our spot as we load the back of the truck with the items. We get rid of the carts and hop in the truck. Kyle starts the truck and what do the light shine on?

A woman with her pants down peeing in the grass!

I can now say I have seen it all at Walmart. Can't figure it out really. Everyone in the store was either in the beer isle or checking out. I am sure the bathrooms were empty. Maybe she was like us and stood in line for 20 minutes to check out and she didn't want to leave her purchases out while she made the bathroom visit. Go to the car and unload and then go back in, is what I would do. Confusion? and Hysterical laughter, ensued. We dropped our things off and headed to taco bell because after our adventure that was the only thing left open. I had good company though. It was nice to spend time with Kyle and have an unforgettable experience with him at Walmart

School Days

Savannah and Zachary survived their first two days of school. Zachary really likes his teacher. :)
She reads to the class. Does it get better than that? He likes his class. He is making new friends, and he has a late lunch, so his teacher lets the class bring a healthy snack.

Savannah has some HILARIOUS teachers! She talked for hours about how much fun they were. She is also taking honors Spanish and honors Algebra for high school credit. She is nervous about that, but I am sure she will be fine. Of course my social Savannah has her two best friends in several classes as well as many other friends. I don't think that girl knows a stranger.

I am glad my prayers were answered and these two had such a good start to their school year. Let's hope it continues... with maybe a few less "mom projects" than the previous years?!

Happy Mornin' to Ya!

Today is the first day of school. Zachary is in his last year of elementary school. Savannah is in her last year of middle school.

Savannah has one of her friends in her home room and her other good friend on her blue team. I really don't know what she is feeling about school this year. Usually she is excited to see friends on the first day. Yesterday the school posted the homerooms on the windows of the school. We went to check it out. Everyone was saying hello to Savannah. She was just ready to go home. Not like my social girl. She was ready bright and early this morning though. I am hoping she has a good day. Her locker isn't near any of her classes so that should be interesting.

Zachary's school posted the teacher lists on the school windows yesterday as well. He got.... Mrs. Schuh (pronounced shoe). He is unsure of this teacher. This is the one teacher he was worried about getting. Maybe all will be well. Savannah had her in 5th grade and she survived. Mrs. Schuh likes Savannah, so maybe this will be a good thing for Zachary. He does have some friends in his class. None of his best friends, but all the kids from church other that one boy are in his class. I tried to get a picture of Zachary in his class, but I guess it was too early for him and too bright. His eyes kept watering. This is the last year I will walk Zachary to his class. Sad :( It was good to see the happy guidance counselor telling all the kids happy mornin' to ya. He had all the kids smiling. Gotta love it!

Nothing like a great baseball game

Kyle and Steve went to New York City to catch a couple of Yankees games. They had great seats the second game they went too. I DVR'd the game and Kyle and I took pictures from the tv, of their tv appearance. The kids loved seeing their dad on tv.

This picture is the easiest to spot them. Kyle on the right of Jeter and Steve taking a picture on the left.

They are on the far left in this one in the third row.

Standing to clap for Joba for pitching a great game. Can you spot them? Where are Kyle and Steve? See hint below if you need one.

The yankees one both games they watched and of course they made a few stops to Gray's Papaya for some of Kyle's favorite hot dogs.

hint- They are left of the police officer. Look for Steve's white hat.

Rain Gutter Regatta

Last Tuesday was the rain gutter regatta. It was just next door so we had to make the long walk to our neighbors home. Zachary won two races and lost two races. It was a LONG night but I think Zachary had fun. By the way, he is easy to spot in the pictures. He is the only one not wearing anything scout like.
The boys are getting ready to race

Go Zachary!

The proud winner

Racing again but having boat troubles. It kept falling over.

He lost this one but didn't give up

He ended up with a ribbon and a rain gutter regatta patch and he got an award for the decoration of his boat. It was decked out with Guitar Hero stickers. You would think the scouting people would put the stickers to decorate the boat in the box with the kit. NOT! That would make it easy. Lucky we had some stickers of our own.

My hair

I was trying to get a picture of my hair since many of you have not seen it. Zachary loves to be in pictures, so just keep in mind we went through several takes before I got pictures that I would post. I do apologize that Zachary has something sticking out of his mouth. Spit? Milk Duds? Who knows?
