Catching Up…

I know… It's about time.

I'm gonna finish off 2012.

Our Stake was split in November 2012 and because of that, we got a visit by Elder Christopherson.  Kyle was out of town, but I took the Savannah and Zachary so that they could be in the room with an Apostle of the Lord. I thought it would be a while… a long while, before we had that same opportunity.   At our first stake conference in December (after the split) we were lucky enough to get a visit by Elder Russell M. Nelson.  President Watson, our new stake president, was asked to have two youth speakers for the Sunday session.  He called Savannah.  He told her that she was his favorite  young woman in the stake and wondered if she would be willing to speak.  No pressure!  She would only be speaking in front of the entire stake with and apostle in attendance.  She couldn't  say no to president Watson.  Savannah was nervous to speak but excited to be able to sit on the stand as when Elder Nelson entered the chapel President Watson introduced him to Savannah and Elder Nelson shook her hand.  We thought that was it.  At the end of conference we all waited for Elder Nelson to leave the stand.  He stood up there for a while talking to people on the stand and close to the front of the chapel.  One of the counselors in the stake presidency walked Savannah over to Elder Nelson  before he left the stand.  He told her that she did a good job on her talk and that it was really nice meeting her.  She asked if she could give him  hug.  She is a hugger.  He said of course, and he gave her a great big hug.  I would've loved to have been able to take a picture but didn't since we were in the chapel.  Bummer on that one!  It was an experience I don't think Savannah will ever forget.

On our way home from Kyle's parents house for Christmas, we passed two rather well known cars.  The kids insisted that we stop. They wanted a closer look and a picture with Tomater and Lightening McQueen.
Yes, they are real!

This is how our family spends Christmas Eve.  We play games.  Usually… well always, Phase 10.  It is a rather long game and we play it multiple times.  We have the kids favorite snack foods and we watch christmas movies.  It is an all day and late night event.  Sometimes Kyle even balances cups on a marker.

In past years, Brinkley has even joined in on the fun!

We also keep with the tradition of lining up for a picture first thing christmas morning.  Zachary is the youngest but also the tallest.  He had to move to the side so we could see his sisters in the picture.

Before Hannah left to go back to BYU, we had to make a dinner stop at Campo Azul.  While we were there, Kyle reminded Hannah that she is still a daddy's girl and he could still carry her.  I'm not really sure what she thought about that one.  Ha ha ha!

That finishes out 2012 for us.

I am going to try and get caught up on 2013.  One family member at a time.
