What We've Been Up To

Took the kids to see Up. Not the funny movie that the Disney Channel and the little Up snippets made it seem like.
We have started paying for Hannah's dorm. Hannah has registered for her classes. That was a mess. Can I just say I hate the school's website? Who runs that mess? Hannah has Freshmen orientation on August 26. Not ready!
Hannah is working for her dad. I guess I should also add that she works for Darren and John and she loves it.
I took the kids to visit Grandmother. Had a nice visit. Went back the next day sans Savannah. Learned a lot about Grandmother. Really nice day.
I got my hair cut, and yes, Kyle doesn't like it.
We went to a great 3rd of July party and John's house. That turned out the be our fireworks for the 4th of July weekend. We had plans to go to the Sounds game and then see the fireworks afterward. It stormed before we even got out of the car. We came home. We decided we would go see the town fireworks. We showed up as the crowds were leaving. They shot them early because another storm cell was coming. We made it back home just in time to see the last 5 min. of the Macy's fireworks on TV.
We used our unused 4th of July sounds tickets to go to the ball game on the 12th and saw the fireworks that night. Zachary loved the game. I have some pictures and will post them when I get them from Kyle's phone. As usual, I didn't have my camera.
We are all excited about Harry Potter! Haven't seen it yet.

Brinkley

I took Brinkley to the vet yesterday for his yearly vaccinations.  Today he is like this.  Laying around yelping.  When he walks he limps or drags his left back paw.  I just took him to the vet again.  He has to stay overnight.  He is running a 103 degree fever and they are going to watch him and try to get his fever down and give him some pain relief.  I think this is from his shots but the vet couldn't be sure. Those darn shots!  Fun, huh?

Zachary's team plays in the Championship game

Zachary's team made it to the championship game.  It started at 6:30 and went until 10:30.  It was a long game with frequent stops because the umpires were terrible.  The pic on the right is Zachary playing left field.  He doesn't like to play outfield, but he was one of the young ones.

This next picture is the coach talking to the kids after the game.  Letting them know what a great team they are and what a great bunch of boys they are and that he is proud of them.

Then it was awards time.  Zachary and his team got trophies and 2nd place medals.  They lost 10-12.

Here are the Yankees after their final game.  Relieved to have that long, contested, heated, emotional game over with.  I hate that Kyle missed it.  He was on a Youth trek.  Zachary caught his first pop fly during this game. I know Zachary has his eyes closed in the final picture of him with his trophy.  It was a long night, and after a few tries, this one is the best I was going to get.

It's 11pm . Do you know where your kids are?

Yep!  Sure do!  I went to the kitchen to get a drink and caught this candid photo of the girls reading and Zachary quietly playing Pokemon.  Who Knew the could be so quiet?  I think they are enjoying the down time of summer.  What do you think?

Zachary and his game ball

On June 6th Zachary got the game ball. (yes  I know I am way behind!)  He got it for getting a couple of grounders to prevent the other team from scoring and hitting the ball in the outfield to bring in two runs. (I think.  I'll make any needed corrections after I check with Kyle)
All decked out Yankees Style

Zachary and his game ball.  Happy times!

Whew! Time to Breathe!

So this is a post with a lot of pictures.  Could have done a slide.  Oh, well.
There has been a lot going on for us in the month of May...

Hannah's last band concert.

Recognizing the Seniors.

We went to Parsons for Mother's Day.  Kyle was showing the kids his stomping grounds.  He saw the sand piles and was showing the kids how fun it is to jump into the sand.  I think the kids were too chicken to do this.
Nice landing!

Here is Zachary batting in one of his many baseball games.  Batter up!

Run Zachary!  He scored a run!  Go Yankees!

Muffins with mom

Zachary's class wrote stories and they asked the parents to come so the kids could read their stories to us.  Zachary's was about aliens.

Happy 10th Birthday Zachary!  He is in to Pokemon in case you were wondering.

Still trying to blow those candles out.  (Trick candles... thanks Hannah!)

The graduate.  Check out those red shoes!

Hannah walking across the stage to get  her diploma cover.

It is over!  She has her diploma!  See the relief in her face?  She was worried she would fall.  Hannah the worrier.  I wonder where is gets it?  hmm.
The gang.

After graduation.  The "non party" (for Kyle, he is sad his girl is growing up.  He didn't want to celebrate her getting older and graduating- leaving home) Hannah is with grandma and grandpa and grandmama.
Hannah with Gran and Grandaddy at the non party.

Once graduation was done we set out for a Cruise.  Here is Zachary looking out the window of the plane right after take off.  He loved it!  He didn't like his ears popping though.
The kids waiting to be able to check in to our cabin with Miami in the background.  For all you First 48 fans, we saw the Pork and Beans area.  Scary!

Our first stop was Key West.  We went to Fort  Zachary Taylor Public beach.  We also made a stop in town to try some Key Lime Pie at the Blonde Giraffe.  Yum!
Zachary can't get enough of the ocean.  He loves it!

The kids favorite pass time in the cabin. Nintendo DS

Savannah and Zachary played paper, rock, scissors to see who would get the bunk.  They ended up compromising and one got it the first two nights, the other got is the second two.
Savannah enjoying the view of the ocean.
Hannah finally relaxed!  Summer is here!
Sisters.  They are going to miss each other this fall.

Our family enjoying the cruise together.
Beautiful sunset!

Zachary checking out the anchor on the ship's put put golf course.

Nassau Bahamas!  Zachary hitting the ocean even though it is cold.  It was a cloudy stormy day.
Getting the sunblock on, hoping for the sun.

It stormed while we were at the beach.  We had to take shelter.  Boys will be boys.  He had to play in the rain.  When the lightning came he finally stayed under the shelter with the rest of us. Now we can all breath and relax and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Being a Mom

This slide show is my therapy this Mother's Day as things are changing.  This song has always brought a tear to my eye.  It is how I feel about being a mom.  Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mom's out there!
