Quick Update

Hannah did get to see the Prophet and she LOVED it. He talked of the Prophets in his lifetime. He told stories about them, their favorite foods, and quotes, and the example they set. Hannah got a kick out of stories about President Kimball. She hated to go to class after being in the room and listening to the Prophet. That darn French class.

Hey Mom,The Prophet is Coming!

At this time last year, Hannah was trying to decide where to apply to go to college. She did NOT want to go to BYU. "That is where parents send their kids to get married and it is cold and too far away." We quickly informed her that we were definitely not sending her there to get married. After praying about where she should go, she promptly got the feeling that she needed to apply to BYU and that it was where she would be going. She wasn't very excited about this, but she applied and tried to think of positives about BYU. We talked a lot about the environment at BYU and also saw that there are weekly Devotionals. This would be great, we told her. You will probably get to hear some of the Apostles speak and maybe even the Prophet.

Fast forward to Sunday.

I get a call from a very excited Hannah telling me that it was announced in church that day, that the Prophet would be speaking at the Devotional on Tuesday. This is only the second Devotional and she wasn't expecting to get to hear form the Prophet so soon. She was hoping to get there early enough this morning to get to be in the same room with the Prophet while he is speaking to them.

So Hannah, I'm hoping you were able to see the Prophet this morning!

A Few Stops Along Our Trip Out West

While we were in Utah, Carrie gave us the directions to see where President Hinckley was buried.
We visited with Carrie and Candace and their families while we were in Utah. It was good to see them and it was cool that some of the kids actually remembered us. Cute, Cute kids! We loved getting to see them. Savannah and Zachary are jealous that Hannah will be able to see them more than once a year now.

After we dropped Hannah off at BYU, we decided to drive to Rexburg to see Ashley, Tony, and Hudson. Can I just say that we loved seeing them? Hudson is so cute! We were going to drive through Yellowstone, but Tony and Ashley said the Tetons were prettier if we were just going to be driving through. Great Idea! It was beautiful!

Kyle and his usual picture. I think he has one like this from several places across the globe. At least he made me laugh. The sign is letting everyone know that "I got your Grand Teton right here". Kyle, Kyle, Kyle. What can I say?

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

WE got back from Utah on Sunday afternoon. I was looking through the mail and saw the bank card that I needed to activate. We hadn't gotten the pin in yet so while I was grocery shopping I stopped at the bank to activate it. We had just opened this account for Hannah before she left because there is a branch in Provo. The guy that opened the account for us was asking about Hannah and how our trip to Provo was. His manager in the mean time was activating my card and listening to our conversation. Then he adds,"Just tell her to watch out for the Mormons." In a matter of seconds, as I am about to say that I am a Mormon, the guy that opened our account said to his manager, "Dude, what if she is Mormon?". I proceeded to tell them that I was. The guy that opened out account started laughing at his manager. The managers face turned bright red. He informed me that he was Baptist, but converting to Lutheran. I told him that was great. The guy that opened our account was worried that I was offended. I assured him that I was fine. Everyone has their own opinions. I got a good laugh as I was grocery shopping thinking about the guy with his face turning bright red. Maybe next time he won't think so harshly about the Mormons. Who knows?

Just one question... Why would I send my daughter to Provo if I was worried about the Mormons?

Funny!?

Off to BYU

Hannah packed up her stuff last week to head out to BYU.

She is trying to decide what to pack.

Notice the girls packing Hannah's things together and Zachary eating a cookie.

Loading the car
The last time the kids are together until Thanksgiving. We are dropping the kids off and Mom's and Dad's before we leave.

Hannah in her dorm

Dropping her off for a tearful goodbye. Yes more tears.

Hannah and the Y on the mountain. It is hard to see. It is on the left.

Adventures in Date Night with a Walmart Twist

Gotcha wondering, huh?

Kyle had a youth activity last Saturday. He had to buy drinks and snacks on Friday night before the activity. He decided it would be fun to go together. We would get the snacks, drop them off, and then go out to dinner. Nothing big and grand, but it was time together. Sounded great to me. Well, off we went. To Walmart. Now most of you know, but for those that don't, I HATE Walmart. I can never find what I need. The isles are so cluttered that once you head down one you have to hope you can turn around, because there is no way that the cart is going to be able to fit all the way down the isle. Their customer service is horrible. They have their own way of doing things and it makes no since to me. Etc. etc. etc. Now to be fair, Kyle told me where we would be going to shop for the snacks ahead of time. He knows me well. I have to brace myself for the event. He says,"You get in a Walmart mood." Not a pretty thing.

We sent Savannah off to her babysitting appointment and left Hannah and Zachary to spend some quality time together before she leaves for school and off we went.

I was doing okay. It was a night out right? We got to Walmart. Still doing good. I take a deep breath and enter the store. Here goes nothing. Walmart is one busy place on Friday night. Seriously? We are shopping for the snacks. Why are the napkins not in the same isle with the other paper products like plates, cups, paper towels? Anyway. I was staying calm. We saw some friends, visited for a bit and continued looking of the sunblock that the wonderful Walmart people said would be somewhere it wasn't.

We gave up on the sunblock and decided to leave. Don't want to push me into my Walmart mood. I was doing well. We got the the check out area. Now I will say that most ever checkout isle was open otherwise I would have lost it then. However, everyone in the store must have been checking out at the same time we were. I think there was a beer sale. That was a popular isle. We stand in line for 20 minutes, smelling the wonderful Walmart aroma. (I think the stores stink) We found the sunblock in the check out isle and we loaded it and our food on the counter. Kyle hands the girl a tax exempt form, because we are buying for the church. She won't take it. For future reference for anyone that has to do this, you have to visit the Customer Service desk to get a special card to use at check out. This is my favorite part.... She says, "you see Walmart has it's own way of doing this. We have our own system." Kyle looking at me says," I'm not standing in this line again. We will just pay the tax." I breathe a sigh of relief. I can feel my blood boiling and I am ready to get out of here and eat.

We load our carts back with the purchased snacks and drinks and head out to his truck. We parked in the second spot in the parking lot a couple of rows over. There is a patch of grass with a light post in front of the truck. We have someone waiting for our spot as we load the back of the truck with the items. We get rid of the carts and hop in the truck. Kyle starts the truck and what do the light shine on?

A woman with her pants down peeing in the grass!

I can now say I have seen it all at Walmart. Can't figure it out really. Everyone in the store was either in the beer isle or checking out. I am sure the bathrooms were empty. Maybe she was like us and stood in line for 20 minutes to check out and she didn't want to leave her purchases out while she made the bathroom visit. Go to the car and unload and then go back in, is what I would do. Confusion? and Hysterical laughter, ensued. We dropped our things off and headed to taco bell because after our adventure that was the only thing left open. I had good company though. It was nice to spend time with Kyle and have an unforgettable experience with him at Walmart
